What Tyler Branco dislikes about Kochi:
Not good. I don’t know if they’re buying reviews here but it’s not worth it. Most underwhelming experience I’ve had in New York City. Stingy wine pour, felt like I was at a wine tasting. Server wasn’t very knowledgeable on menu, short and rushed. There are pubs here that are more appealing and serve better food than this supposedly Michelin rated restaurant. A lovely small Michelin starred Korean restaurant serving well curated fine dining dishes. All the dishes are elegantly made and tasted great. I had to rush my dessert because I had a Broadway show to catch and the waitress was very understanding.

Interesting fusion of French/modern cuisine with touches of Korean elements. Food tasted flavorful and somewhat interesting. But I personally think this mixture of modern traditional way of eating Korean food fails to bring the best of what Korean food is about, which should be grassroot without the fancy superficiality. But I guess that has been the ongoing trend for quite some time.Service was great, friendly and courteous.I was tasting menu with the choice of selecting one of two kinds of beef. We ordered some nice red wines and Korean spirit. The head chef was nice enough to prepare some extra dishes for us to try, which was pretty good.Overall a good experience. Would recommend it to folks who have interest in French Korean food with a fusion twist.

Kochi in New York has gone up on my list as the best meal I 've ever had. The restaurant is quite small, but the outdoor section obviously helps. They have a bar with the possibility of eating there too, but we sat at a regular table.Food was simply amazing with each new bite giving that wow hitting my smile and opening my eyes. I still think about Kochi, even as I write this review now.Service was also good, as expected of a Michelin. The atmosphere was also really good, albeit a tad too loud. That 's because the restaurant is small which also sets the tone, but the volume made it a bit loud.TLDR: 11/10 wow

Very disappointing dining experience. I’ve been to several Michelin star restaurants in other countries and had high expectations for Kochi. Some of the dishes were ok, but most were bland and did not seem anything close to korean cuisine. The worst was the bibimbap which was not served in stone bowl (this seems necessary) and came with soggy rice, wilted microgreens and mediocrely seasoned salmon. I was glad they forgot the uni upgrade because I’d be more upset if I had paid even more. Halibut and flat iron were decent but everything else super mid or straight up not good. Service was nothing to write home about. We were also seated outside and the busy street had a huge pothole that trucks were slamming past all evening, ruined the vibe. I was extremely disappointed paying $500+ for 2 for this meal. Not sure how they defended their Michelin star.

If you’re interested in spending money on the most basic food of your life with a cheap häagen-dasz knock off at the end for desert, go for it. Otherwise run for your life and go somewhere good
