What Tyler Branco dislikes about Kochi:
Not good. I don’t know if they’re buying reviews here but it’s not worth it. Most underwhelming experience I’ve had in New York City. Stingy wine pour, felt like I was at a wine tasting. Server wasn’t very knowledgeable on menu, short and rushed. There are pubs here that are more appealing and serve better food than this supposedly Michelin rated restaurant. Walking into Kochi in NYC, you 're immediately enveloped in an atmosphere that feels like a culinary performance, raw and unfiltered. Seated at the chef 's counter, I felt like I was dropped straight into an episode of The Bear, with its palpable intensity and behind-the-scenes magic unfolding right before my eyes. The halibut in jiri consommé was nothing short of spectacular. The fish, cooked to perfection, floated in a rich broth so clear and profound it was like tasting the essence of the ocean itself. It was subtle, elegant, and incredibly satisfying. Then came the A5 wagyu and duck breast. These weren 't just a dish; they were an experience. The meat, marbled and rich, melted in my mouth, each bite a sublime testament to luxury and indulgence. It was a reminder of why this place holds its Michelin star with such deserved pride. What sets Kochi apart is the seamless integration of Korean flair into each dish. The flavors are bold yet nuanced, offering a delightful twist that elevates the dining experience to another level. Every bite tells a story of tradition meeting innovation, a celebration of Korean culinary artistry. Kochi is more than just a restaurant. It 's a front-row seat to a high-stakes, high-reward culinary adventure. If you 're looking for a dining experience that blends impeccable technique with the thrill of real-time kitchen theater and the vibrant essence of Korean cuisine, Kochi delivers in spades. It 's a journey worth taking, one delicious bite at a time.

Do not come here unless you want food poisoning. Food is absolutely disgusting and the bathrooms are dirty.

The food is good but overpriced. The atmosphere is not good for the price. The service was excellent.

We had such a wonderful time at kochi last night. The service was exceptional and the food was even better. The halibut was so good we ordered extra!

Absolutely amazing, delicious and unique experience. The service was spectacular. Highly recommend for anyone especially if a foodie !
Kochi offers a mix of Korean and French cuisine, with some finding the fusion successful while others feeling it misses the mark on traditional Korean flavors. Service receives mixed reviews, with some diners feeling rushed while others praise the attentiveness. The atmosphere is cozy but not ideal for larger groups. The food quality ranges from underwhelming to exceptional, with some feeling it's worth the high price tag while others are disappointed. Overall, Kochi offers a unique dining experience that might be hit or miss depending on individual taste preferences and expectations. It is recommended for those looking for a special dining experience.

A lovely small Michelin starred Korean restaurant serving well curated fine dining dishes. All the dishes are elegantly made and tasted great. I had to rush my dessert because I had a Broadway show to catch and the waitress was very understanding.

Interesting fusion of French/modern cuisine with touches of Korean elements. Food tasted flavorful and somewhat interesting. But I personally think this mixture of modern traditional way of eating Korean food fails to bring the best of what Korean food is about, which should be grassroot without the fancy superficiality. But I guess that has been the ongoing trend for quite some time.Service was great, friendly and courteous.I was tasting menu with the choice of selecting one of two kinds of beef. We ordered some nice red wines and Korean spirit. The head chef was nice enough to prepare some extra dishes for us to try, which was pretty good.Overall a good experience. Would recommend it to folks who have interest in French Korean food with a fusion twist.

Kochi in New York has gone up on my list as the best meal I 've ever had. The restaurant is quite small, but the outdoor section obviously helps. They have a bar with the possibility of eating there too, but we sat at a regular table.Food was simply amazing with each new bite giving that wow hitting my smile and opening my eyes. I still think about Kochi, even as I write this review now.Service was also good, as expected of a Michelin. The atmosphere was also really good, albeit a tad too loud. That 's because the restaurant is small which also sets the tone, but the volume made it a bit loud.TLDR: 11/10 wow

Very disappointing dining experience. I’ve been to several Michelin star restaurants in other countries and had high expectations for Kochi. Some of the dishes were ok, but most were bland and did not seem anything close to korean cuisine. The worst was the bibimbap which was not served in stone bowl (this seems necessary) and came with soggy rice, wilted microgreens and mediocrely seasoned salmon. I was glad they forgot the uni upgrade because I’d be more upset if I had paid even more. Halibut and flat iron were decent but everything else super mid or straight up not good. Service was nothing to write home about. We were also seated outside and the busy street had a huge pothole that trucks were slamming past all evening, ruined the vibe. I was extremely disappointed paying $500+ for 2 for this meal. Not sure how they defended their Michelin star.

If you’re interested in spending money on the most basic food of your life with a cheap häagen-dasz knock off at the end for desert, go for it. Otherwise run for your life and go somewhere good

The food was absolutely amazing. Every course left me and my partner speechless. It was almost the perfect diner. The service was wonderful upon our arrival, every need was catered without us having to move a finger. Once the FOH staff started drinking at the bar though, service began to degrade and smaller things went unnoticed. Everyone drinks in the restaurant business but atleast do it out of customers view. You work at a Michelin Star restaurant, and as a customer paying a premium I would expect more.

Each course was unique, flavorful and well thought out. We enjoyed each and every course. It was a good amount of food overall (did not leave hungry) and I thought it was a great value for a tasting menu. Truly an unforgettable dining experience. I wish I could rate it higher than 5 stars. Everything about this experience was executed so well from service to food to the wine pairings. I’d highly recommend splurging to go for the wine pairings our server was right, even though it’s 8 pairings it is not overwhelming. Usually we aren’t huge dessert fans, especially with chocolate, but their desserts were heavenly. Service: Dine in

I absolutely loved my experience at this restaurant. The menu offered a fantastic variety of flavors and the dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. The service was excellent, with Briana being especially attentive and understanding, even though my partner kept me waiting for an hour. As an Australian, I typically dislike tipping, but I was more than happy to leave a tip at Kochi. While the prices are on the higher side, it was one of the best meals I had in New York. If you're looking for a top-notch dining experience, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try.

I had a good experience at this restaurant, but it was slightly overhyped for its price point. While I wasn't blown away, the vibe was great despite being a bit too stuffy. The open kitchen added to the atmosphere and the service was excellent. The food had some standout dishes like the abalone and uni bowl froyo, but there were also some misses like the wild rice and gelatin. Overall, it was a good experience. Dining was for dinner. Service was good.

Easy enough to make reservations online several weeks out; may be difficult if you do it less than 2 weeks out and are looking for indoor dining. that being said, even in this wintery weather (december 2023), the outdoor section was enclosed and there was a heater. i 'm betting that 's pretty comfortable to sit out there. it is quite a small restaurant in size, so having that outdoor seating really doubles their space. the service was excellent, prompt and coordinated, all the staff were very knowledgeable about the menu and the drink pairings we got. there were 9 courses, 7 savory and 2 sweet. i enjoyed each course, esp the hwe course and the fish course, those were my favorite. i was really looking forward to the BBB course, which still tasted good but didn 't blow me away, so i was slightly disappointed. overall, the food was tasty, well cooked, beautiful; however, the 2 meat courses we had (pork jowl and duck) did feel a bit similar in taste. i wish those were a little more distinct and that the savory courses ended with the duck instead of the BBB. the first sweet course was a nice refreshing palette cleanser and the second sweet course was delicious and felt a bit more rich, i loved both a lot.

For any fans of Korean food and would like to enjoy a high quality tasting menu at a very reasoanble price, look no further than Kochi and it's 9-course experience highlighted by brilliant presentation, amazing service, and delicious food. Personally, I am not a froyo or ice cream fan so the two desserts were a bit wasted on me, even then, I would happily have paid for the same meal at 7 courses. The best decision we made was upgrading from the duck course to A5 Wagyu. The beef flavourful, rich and simply melts in your mouth. Adding the sea urchin to the snow crab bibimbap is also a must. There was an Abalone special appetiser we ordered, and was a trip down memory lane for the taste buds. The skewers theme was great which allowed us to not feel stuffed but perfectly satisfied at the end. All in all a wonderful experience that I will remember for a very long time.

This was hands down the best meal we had all year. We left thinking it was one of the best meals we've ever had. It was definitely expensive, but absolutely worth it. The portions were generous but not overwhelming, and we left feeling satisfied. It was tough to choose from the menu, but my favorite was the walnut dessert, which was amazing. I highly recommend this place.

Great fast service! Nice attention to detail. Great food and drinks. Small intimate environment. Prices a little expensive, but do recommend.
